Social Studies: In Social Studies, Miss Shaw gave us a project to show the class. We had to tell about a person in the Civil War. My person is J.E.B. Stuart. Each person in the class has to share out loud the facts about their person and present a poster. The class heard about Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and Ulysses S. Grant.
Science: In science, the class had to turn in their science fair question. We are now learning about how to clean up a miniature oil spill. We used different materials to see what would work the best. I think nylon worked the best.
Reading: In reading we are learning about Paul Revere and his midnight ride. There are two stories about Paul Revere. One is a poem. One is biased and one is really true and writes the real deal. We are reading about both stories to see which one is the real story. The poem is not true.
Math: In math we are working on fractions and how to make the denominator the same. We are adding fractions and learning different ways to do that. We have been doing week by week math packets. Math is my favorite subject.

Today's "Pocket Flags" activity has been cancelled due to the two hour delay. It will be rescheduled for another day. Spelling, reading, and math homework are still due today.
Next week's spelling words:
Happy TUESDAY everyone!
I'm very excited to announce our special activity I have planned for this Friday! The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 from Lewes and the Cape Henlopen High School JROTC will be joining us for a special "pocket flags" lesson! The volunteers will be teaching us how to fold pocket flags that will then be sent to the soldiers currently serving in the military. This is a valuable lesson in citizenship and patriotism. I am encouraging all students to wear red, white, and blue on Friday.
This is just a friendly reminder that your Civil War projects are due on Tuesday! Information about the assignment and grading criteria can be found under the Social Studies tab. Remember: One letter grade will be deducted for each day the project is late! I look forward to your presentations! :-) Miss Shaw
